All items below will apply in the event of a power outage or early closure where a power outage may be expected. If early closure is the result of road conditions or other situations that should not result in loss of power, you would still want to follow the procedure to disable online ordering.
Disable Online Ordering
Contact NCR (1-844-380-4669) and request that your online ordering be set to emergency close.
Risk – If you do not request this to be disabled and the power/internet is restored there will be a potential opportunity for guests to place orders to your restaurant while closed. In addition to a negative guest experience, this could also result in an automatic 4 am close out.
Point of Sale System Shutdown
Your POS hardware may be at risk in the event of a power outage. To prevent further downtime you must do the following if you anticipate the possibility of losing power.
- Unplug the power to all of the following POS items:
- Front of House Terminals
- Back Office Aloha File Server
- Back Office Manager Workstation
- Heart of House KDUs
- Upon reopening do NOT power on any equipment. You must call NCR because there are unfinished POS Tasks and EOD items that need to be fixed appropriately.
The steps outlined above will help expedite returning your restaurant to its original state.
